Retrospective Survey of Biographical Resources

      Complementing the reviews from the 2003 edition of Informationsmittel (IFB), the editors are pleased to present abstracts of reviews selectedfrom the first volume of the two-volume Beiheft [Supplement] to the 1999 edition of IFB, entitled Biographische Informationsmittel [Biographical Information Resources].This signals at least partial completion of our longstanding goal of making reviews from the Beiheft available in English.

      Most of the titles reviewed in this section were published in the 1990s. They cover a wide range of countries, organizations, and people. Because they present an overview of publications from the last decade of the 20th century, we hope they will be useful for purposes of retrospective collection development. As usual, we have tried to concentrate on European publications with a substantial reference character or component.

      Where we have been able to establish that a title is still in print, or is available in a later edition, the price is given in euros. In other cases, the pre-euro price from the original review is given.
