The first edition of this biographical dictionary, with 600 entries, appeared in 2003 under the title Ökonomen-Lexikon (see RREA 10:201). This newer edition includes approximately one-third more names, including the names of persons who are currently alive. The criteria for selection are not clear, however. The information about each person is brief, but most entries also include bibliographical information. The bibliography has been updated as well but does not include an important work, Biographisches Handbuch der deutschsprachigen wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Emigration nach 1933 (see RREA 6:234). There are useful lists of dates of Nobel Prize winners and a brief overview of trends in economic thought in the 20th century, but there is no subject index. [sh/ldl]
