Originally published as Riemann-Musiklexikon (1959-1975), then revised under the title Brockhaus-Riemann-Musiklexikon (1978-1979), which then appeared (updated with a supplemental volume) as a paperback in 1989. The 1995 edition is a second edition of the 1989 paperback, with a greatly revised and expanded supplemental volume, which, fortunately, can be purchased separately. (The text of the four volumes reprinted from the 1978-1979 ed. remains unaltered.) Strongly recommended. [sh/sl]
