This bibliography of the anarchist pamphlets held by the Institute on Research of the European Worker's Movement includes 1412 numbered titles for a collection of 1886 items; some titles appeared in different editions. Approximately half of the pamphlets were printed between the first and second world wars and only 200 titles are from the 19th century. This coverage makes the compilation an important complement to Max Nettlau's Bibliographie de l'anarchie (1897). The collection consists of duplicates from a collection at the International Institute of Social History in Amsterdam. Though not all of the items are pamphlets, that form was the most important medium of the anarchists. The bibliography is arranged alphabetically by author. The bibliographic description follows a uniform presentation which covers 11 types of information. The arrangement of this information in a paragraph makes it difficult to identify individual categories quickly. The lists of bibliographic aids are helpful, but suffer from very abbreviated descriptions. Burazerovic makes reference neither to Nettlau's bibliography mentioned above nor to Paul Nursey-Bray's Anarchist Thinkers and Thought (Greenwood Press, 1992), which in addition to annotating research literature, covers sources from 40 important anarchists as well.
