This bibliography covers German-language research on Japan as well as translations from Japanese into German. This latest volume in the bibliographic series appears six years after the last one and reports on four years of publications. Th e announced intention to publish the next volume as soon as possible and also bring the coverage since 1980 online is welcome. Unlike earlier volumes, this one includes an index of collected studies and a list of journals and series in Japanese studies. The subject index, criticized in an earlier review (see RREA 6:280), has been abandoned, but the flawed classified subject index has been retained. [sh/jpn]
