The contents of the Kösel Verlag archives, one of the oldest (founded 1593) and most prominent German-language Catholic publishers, are the subject of this volume, which is the first in a series of special collection catalogs from the University Library of Eichstätt. The title is divided into 3 main sections: Part I: tabular presentation of author correspondence; Part II: archival material about individual publications; and Part III: publications for which reviews are available. A personal name index is provided, as well as photographs of the publishers and important authors. [sh/ldb]

This handbook of Italian publishing, produced by the Associazione Italiana Editori, consists of three parts: Part I contains articles about the state of Italian publishing (including a selected bibliography of new titles) and provides statistics on book production and sales in 1992-1993; Part II is a directory of 2,800 publishers arranged by name; Part III is a directory of distributors listed by company name. The information in Part II is solicited by questionnaire and is often incomplete. Some publisher names are given in a shortened form, and therefore, this work is not a definitive source for the official names of Italian publishing houses. [sh/ldb]

This directory, which has been appearing yearly since 1988, lists over 450 Italian publishing houses, including major scholarly publishers and a number of smaller and alternative presses. The standard entry includes information such as address, management, yearly production and sales. What distinguishes this directory from the Catalogo degli editori italiani is the inclusion of historical information, author listings, and significant subject areas for most publishers. [sh/ldb]
