Of the directories on Africa, Asia and Latin America produced by branches of the Deutsches Übersee-Institut [German Overseas Institute], this is the most wide-ranging and thorough, covering the whole of German-speaking Europe. Section 1 details research institutes, libraries and archives concerned with Latin America, section 2 gives bio-bibliographical details of 634 experts in the field, and section 3 lists relevant periodicals, series, handbooks, etc. Entries in each sequence are assigned a unique number and letter, so that the wide range of name and subject indexes which constitute section 4 are all-inclusive.
